Download Policy Match
Policy Match is available free on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Mac with Apple silicon. Mac requires macOS 14 or later and an Apple M1 chip or later.
If you previously used a TestFlight version, install the App Store version over your existing copy. Do not delete the app first, because your ratings and notes are stored on your device.
Common questions
How is my match calculated?
Strongly disagree = 0, disagree = 25, unsure = 50, agree = 75 and strongly agree = 100. Each party’s percentage is the average for its active policies you have rated. Every rated policy has equal weight. Unanswered policies are excluded. An “unsure” response counts as 50; clear the response to exclude it.
Parties have different numbers of listed policies, and your rated sample may be small. Treat the result as a summary of your answers, not a voting recommendation.
Will restarting my phone delete my responses?
No. Responses are saved locally and normally survive restarting the device or updating the app. Deleting the app, losing or resetting the device, or a storage failure may permanently remove them. Policy Match has no account-based recovery or iCloud sync. A device backup may restore them if they were included; recovery is not guaranteed.
How do I get new policies?
Open About → Policy updates → Check for updates. You can also enable automatic downloads there. The app checks the signature and integrity of an update before accepting it. If a download fails, it keeps its existing policy list. Browsing and rating downloaded policies works offline.
Why does a corrected policy need a new response?
When a commitment materially changes, it gets a new identity and starts unanswered. Your old response is not carried over to different wording. Responses to retired policies remain stored locally, but those policies no longer affect the current match.
How do I remove a response or all my data?
Use Clear response for an individual opinion. To remove every response and note, go to About → Clear all responses and confirm. This cannot be undone. Clearing responses does not delete the public policy catalogue.
Is this an official election app?
No. Policy Match is an independent comparison tool, not affiliated with the Electoral Commission or any political party. Always consult the linked official party source for the full commitment, conditions and latest wording.
