Frost Alert helps you assess overnight frost risk for saved growing locations using Apple Weather forecasts and your selected plant sensitivity.
Common questions
Why does Frost Alert say Watch when frost is not forecast?
Watch means conditions may become marginal for your selected plant threshold. It can be triggered by forecast lows near the threshold, calm wind, clear sky, humidity, dew point, and the overnight timing of the risk.
Do alerts run automatically?
Frost Alert schedules local notifications from the latest forecast refreshed by the app. iOS background refresh can help keep alerts updated, but it is not guaranteed if the app is force-quit, rarely opened, or restricted by the system.
How often should I open the app?
Open Frost Alert every few days during frost season, and whenever conditions are changing quickly, so forecasts and scheduled alerts stay current.
Can I use Frost Alert for high-value crops?
Yes, but treat forecasts as guidance. For high-value crops, use local sensors and professional frost-protection systems as needed.
